This Aceclofenac Paracetamol tablet is a combination of the nonsteroidal anti-inflammatory drugs (NSAIDs) category. The uses of Aceclofenac Paracetamol tablet as pain and fever reliever. Also, the uses of Aceclofenac Paracetamol tablet as Analgesic and Antipyretic. Aceclofenac and Paracetamol are the generic names of the drug. Don’t get confused between the uses of Aceclofenac Paracetamol tablet as it is its generic medicine and branded medicine (1). With the help of examples, we could understand here the difference between Generic medicine and Branded medicine.
Let us understand with an example: Generic drug, one used as an analgesic, antipyretic is “Aceclofenac and Paracetamol” and brand name is available in the market for this combination of the drug is DOLOSTAT PC TAB. (2)
Aceclofenac + Paracetamol is mainly the combination of two drugs one is Aceclofenac and the second is Paracetamol. Aceclofenac helps to reduce pain whereas Paracetamol acts as a fever reducer. Pain is a distressing sensory and emotional experience caused by actual or potential tissue damage. When you do something that causes pain in your body, your brain activates the pain response. A localized physical condition known as inflammation occurs when a part of the body becomes reddened, swollen, hot, and frequently painful, especially in response to an injury or infection.
The combination of aceclofenac and paracetamol helps in relieving pain and inflammation by reducing the levels of chemical substances in the body that cause pain and inflammation. This combination of medications is considered safe for the majority of patients. But even so, it may cause dizziness, nausea, vomiting, constipation, heartburn, diarrhoea, skin reaction and unusual side effects in some patients.
If you are taking Aceclofenac + Paracetamol for a condition that causes chronic pain, you should take it for as long as your physician recommends. It can be stopped if you are only using it for temporary pain relief.
Aceclofenac + Paracetamol should not be used for stomach pain without first consulting a doctor. This medication can cause an increase in stomach acid secretion, which could aggravate an unidentified underlying condition.
The combination of Aceclofenac and Paracetamol may cause nausea and vomiting in the patient. It is better to take milk, food, or antacids to prevent nausea. Request to avoid consuming fatty or fried foods while taking this combination of medication. If you vomit, you need to drink plenty of water or other fluids in small and frequent sips as advised. One should consult with a doctor if the vomiting continues and if one noticed signs of dehydration, such as dark, strong-smelling urine and a low frequency of urination. Do not take any other medications without first consulting your family physician.
In some patients, the combination of Aceclofenac and Paracetamol can cause dizziness (a feeling of being faint, weak, unsteady, or lightheaded). If you feel dizzy or lightheaded, take a break and then resume your workout.
Long-term use of a combination of Aceclofenac and +Paracetamol can cause kidney damage. Normal kidneys produce prostaglandins, which are chemical messengers that protect them from damage. Long-term painkiller use reduces prostaglandin levels in the body, which leads to kidney damage. Patients with underlying kidney diseases should avoid using painkillers. Before aggravating this condition immediately consult with your physician.
Aceclofenac +Paracetamol is not recommended for patients who have a known allergy to any of the ingredients or excipients of this medication, or for patients who have a known allergy to other pain relievers (NSAIDs). It should be avoided in patients who have a past history of stomach ulcers or who have an active, regularly occurring stomach ulcer/bleeding. It must also be avoided in patients who have a history of heart failure, hypertension, or liver or kidney disease.
Aceclofenac + Paracetamol is compatible with vitamin B-complex preparations. While Aceclofenac + Paracetamol may help as a pain reliever and vitamin B-complex may help to address the vitamin deficiency.
Long-term use of Aceclofenac +Paracetamol at higher than recommended doses can cause nausea, vomiting, heartburn, indigestion, and diarrhoea, as well as may also damage your kidneys. If you are experiencing increased pain severity or if the recommended doses of this medicine do not relieve your pain, please consult your doctor for an opinion.
Preventive Measures
- Alcohol: Do not consume alcohol with this combination because it contains paracetamol which may damage your liver severely.
- Pregnancy: It is not recommended for use in pregnancy pls consult your physician before using.
- Breastfeeding: Do not use this combination if you are breastfeeding. Kindly consult with your physician.
- Driving: This combination causes dizziness, and drowsiness because it is not advised while driving.
- Liver: If you have a history of liver disease/ condition then before taking the dose of this combination kindly consult with your physician.
- Kidney: If you have a history of kidney disease/ condition then before taking the dose of this combination kindly consult with your physician.
